John and Sonya Kluth are facing 6 charges of child abuse.
The couple is accused of locking their 3 adopted children in cages in rural Yukon.
Investigators say the kids were hit, burned, choked and forced to eat dog food.
The case involves two boys, ages 15 and 11, and their 9-year-old sister.
A physical examination of the teenager revealed "multiple injuries," including a broken hand, and scars on his stomach where he was cut with a knife. He also had scars on his back, which was burned with utensils.
The 15-year-old said he had been confined to a cellar for 7 months and placed in a dog crate at one time.
Court documents show the 9-year-old said her mom would bang their heads on the doors, walls and bathroom counter tops.
She said her mom "chipped her tooth with a portable phone."
She also claims she was "made to wear shoes too small, shoes that would make her feet swell and hurt."
The 11-year-old boy said his mom would make him place his hand or foot on the cutting board and would have his fingers or toes smashed.
At times, he said she said "get back up here, you know I want blood."
The kids are in DHS custody.
